This Advent season we will be reminded that we live in a weary world longing for hope, love, joy and peace. The line “the weary world rejoices,” from O Holy Night captures that deep ache for renewal and the reality that both immediate and eternal transformation has come through the advent of Jesus Christ. This Advent series, “A Thrill of Hope,” points to the biblical and lived reality of inaugurated eschatology, the truth that God’s promises and victory have already begun to be fulfilled in Christ though their fullness and consummation are still to come in glory. Through these four themes we see how the birth of Christ brings real transformation now and points us to the complete and lasting restoration that is yet ahead.
