The Weekday Early Education [WEE] program is an extension of the ministry of First Baptist Church Portland. WEE exists to promote the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical growth and development of preschoolers. Our biblically based preschool ministry strives to provide Christian support and encouragement to parents in their calling to disciple their children.

WEE maintains an inviting, nurturing classroom with a Christ-centered, God honoring spirit. This is accomplished through collaborative relationships among family members, the local community, and staff, providing a distinctly Christian atmosphere, developmentally appropriate activities, and an outreach ministry to the families we serve. FBC WEE is a place where children are made aware that they are made in the image of God and that He has a special plan for them.

WEE focuses on play-based and hands-on learning. Our staff is trained in classroom management, behavioral management strategies utilizing the latest research in the ABC method, and many other behavior modification and redirection strategies. We strive to develop the child not only spiritually and emotionally, but also socially. We work on friendship skills and how to “be a super-friend” all throughout the year.

Safety is a top-priority at WEE. Our faciltiies are top-notch with cameras in every room, key card access doors, robust safety procedures, and every staff member is trained in child abuse awareness, trauma-informed, and in the latest safety measures to ensure the children in our care are as protected as possible. Every staff member is also background checked every year, along with yearly training.
