The book of 2 Samuel tells the story of David’s ascension to the throne as king of Israel. At first, David’s reign is marked by a unified throne, victory over Israel’s enemies, and a deep desire to honor the Lord - that produces a covenant promise from God that an heir of David will reign forever. But, even though David was a good Aking, he was not a fully righteous man. Our study will take us through the rise and fall of King David. Connecting 2 Samuel to Jesus - revealing that Israel needs a perfect king. They need a king much, much better than Saul. And, they need a king much better than David. Jesus is that righteous, perfect King that is the promised King that will rule eternally from the line of David as God promised
