Our mission is simple, First Baptist Portland exists to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ in our church, community, and throughout the world. We achieve this by equipping the saints for ministry and engaging the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We achieve this by gathering regularly to pray, praise God, study His Word, and care for one another in community.

Our mission is simple, but it is the very reason why FBC Portland exists. Our goal is to disciple everyone we meet to a growing and intentional relationship with Jesus Christ.

Discipleship as a Culture

At FBC, our desire is to lead followers of Christ to grow in discipleship and sanctification. This process is designed to intentionally equip disciples of Jesus Christ with the Word of God through accountable relationships empowered by the Holy Spirit toward mission/ action, in order to multiply faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

Discipleship is Intentional

Discipleship does not happen by accident. It is intentional and it grows in community with other disciples of Christ.

What are you intentionally doing right now to grow your relationship with Christ?

Discipleship Uses the Word of God

God’s Word is the only tool to use in discipleship AND it is essential to any true Christ-centered discipleship.

Do you intentionally spend time with God through His Word?

What are you learning about God and His design for you through His Word?

Discipleship Grows in Community

We want to intentionally help you find Gospel-centered community and grow as a disciple of Christ.

Are you growing spiritually with other believers in community?

Discipleship Requires Action

Discipleship requires that we actively invest in the people we come in contact with through intentional interactions and spiritual growth through God’s Word.

Is your faith an active faith?

Do you intentionally spend time in God’s Word?

Do you actively spend time in Christian community with the intent of growing as a disciple of Christ?

Discipleship is Multiplying

Multiplying disciples is making disciples who go and make disciples. At FBC, we are committed to intentionally training disciples who are prepared to share the Good News in their neighborhoods or to the nations!

Are you effectively communicating the Gospel in the environment God has placed you?

Are you obeying God’s call on your life?
