The purpose of Upward Basketball and Cheerleading is to:

	Teaching every player and cheerleader the fundamentals of basketball or cheerleading and helping them grow in their understanding and enjoyment of the sport.
	Sharing the love of Jesus Christ with each player, cheerleader, coach, referee, and family member.
	Helping each player grow as Jesus did - spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially.
	Helping every player develop character, an understanding of sportsmanship, and a respect for authority in any situation, on and off the court.
	Helping every player develop self-esteem and a sense of personal value.

Upward at First Baptist Church, Portland

First Baptist Church of Portland sponsors a basketball league and cheerleading squads for children in first through eighth grade. This is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults in the Portland community and surrounding area. It is a way players can develop and create friends in a Christian environment.
