Building Update from Bro. Greg
October 4, 2006 Compass, as we have affectionately called it, is no more. Our youth have met in this building hundreds of times for worship and fellowship. Sunday School classes met for the last time in the annex on October 1, 2006. Today, October 4th, the building has been demolished and is presently a pile of rubble. The garage that housed vans, yard sales, junk, etc. is gone. This building has been standing a long time in Portland. Many of our folks remember when it didn’t belong to the church. They remember it as a flower shop, an automobile repair shop, and other things. Today is evidence that we are moving ever closer to acquiring possession of our new facility. Adult Sunday School classes will meet in the new building for the first time this Sunday. New preschool, children, and youth space is on the verge of being completed. These are indeed exciting days. Take a good long look at the view you will now have when you travel north on Hwy 109. What a great picture of First Baptist Church Bro. Greg The Gym floor is complete !!!!!!!!

Tuesday, November 04, 2006 We will having some Sunday School classes in the new building this Sunday - Praise the Lord The Nursery is being setup The Compass building was cleaned out Sunday and Monday - Today the building came down so the parking lot can now start to be worked on. The pile of rubble from the building will be gone by tomorrow. Gym floor is being cleaned to the flooring can be laid with the next couple of weeks, Gym walls are painted and have a purple strip around both floors.
Sunday, September 10, 2006 Kitchen appliances are being installed Most of the Sunday Schools rooms on the 1st floor are complete Choir Suite is starting to take shape - platform is being build Platforms are being built in the Youth room Ceiling tiles are installed on the first floor Wall connecting the 2 buildings are knocked down Outdoor lighting is working. Carpeting and tiling are completed on the 1st floor
Wednesday, August 16, 2006 The walls and windows are completely installed in the racquetball count Tiles is being laid in the hall on the first floor AC is working and the gym is COLD Outside trim is being completed Carpet rolls are currently in the gym Lights are installed and working in the staircases Fire alarm system is installed
Wednesday, July 27, 2006 The walls are being installed in the racquetball count Basketball nets are installed Toilets are being installed Light fixtures are being installed All doors are installed AC unit is installed All dry-walling and painting is completed. Tiles are being installed in the Sunday Schools rooms
Wednesday, June 6, 2006 Dry-wall finishers continue to work on the second level. Tile is being laid in the upstairs restrooms. The walking track rails are almost completely installed. The fire system is being wires. Heating and air conditioning ducts are a major project right now, and windows are being installed a few at a time. Electrical work has been done that will allow our existing building to stay on line while also providing power to the new building. This will allow the elevator company to being installation.

Thursday, March 30, 2006 Brick is being laid on the back wall The cross walk steal is up The inside framing is almost complete and the the 2nd floor framing is just starting
Thursday, March 1, 2006 Education section: Cement was poured on half of the 2nd floor The walls for hydraulic elevator have been put up today. The wall for the dressing room in the gym area have been started. First set of stairs have been added on the south side of the building
Thursday, February 23, 2006 Education section: all of the second floor sheet metal has been laid. The pit was dug for the hydraulic elevator today and concrete pad poured in the bottom of the hole The walking track just needs the final corner of steel to be installed. Steel Roof started.
